SEEK Development is a consulting group based in Berlin, Germany, dedicated to supporting and shaping human development globally. SEEK Development seeks Freelance Country Experts, with extensive knowledge and experience on the development landscape and advocacy to provide 12-15 days of support in developing a detailed donor profile and provide relevant geopolitical intelligence throughout 2024 up to the end of February 2025 for one of our clients - a leading multilateral development bank operating globally.  
 
The selected Country Expert will be responsible for providing monthly updates on relevant developments (1-2 days a month from Oct-Feb with possibility of extension) and co-developing a detailed donor profile (6-10 days between October and end of January). We are interested in understanding the role of different countries as development players and potential funders of development priorities globally. The Consultant will report to the Berlin office of SEEK Development. 

ABOUT YOUR ROLE

As a Freelance Country Expert, you will work on the following tasks:
Geopolitical Intelligence/Insights:

Monthly monitoring of key geopolitical trends and relevant policy updates in your market
Insights on foreign policy issues relevant to multilateralism, MDBs, and Asia from your market
Updates on key events, moments, and initiatives in the development space

Donor profile:

Preparation of a donor profile for your market including context setting, key political moments and key stakeholders and platforms for engagement, ODA trends, relevant policy updates and priorities and budget allocation analysis (all based on a template and with support from SEEK).
Willingness to engage in one or more briefing calls with the client to answer follow-up questions and provide additional insight.

 
Note that for the donor profiles, SEEK Development will provide a template and all quantitative analysis that you can build on with your input. We expect the deliverable to be a 10-slide deck per market.

ABOUT YOU

WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT FOR THIS EXCITING ROLE: 

Strong understanding of development priorities, budget process, development finance flows, policy-making and policy priorities, especially with regard to development and climate, in country of interest
Strong understanding of the political and policy landscape in country of interest 
Existing relationships with relevant individuals in government, parliament, and CSOs in country of interest 
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders 
Ability to condense complex information in simple and clear language

WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER

Based on this, we would like to identify and recruit one Country Expert per country for France, Denmark, Canada, Türkiye, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, India or Thailand with experience working in the country and with a good understanding of the development financing landscape and relevant stakeholders. This role will be remunerated as a freelance role, with daily rates to be discussed with prospective candidates. Beyond this project, the selected Experts may join our roster of freelance consultants for future opportunities.
 
Consultancy: Freelance Country Expert for France, Denmark, Canada, Turkey, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, India or Thailand
 
Time investment: The Country Expert is expected to dedicate at least 12-15 days of support throughout 2024 until February 2025, with 1 day per month for regular monitoring of events and policy updates and 6-10 days to complete a donor profile depending on the country and data availability. 
 
Location:  France , Canada, Turkey, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, India or Thailand depending on the market to be covered.
